Application deadline for admission-restricted degree programmes
You can apply for admission-restricted degree programmes (NC) until 15 July. This deadline applies to both applications for admission-restricted degree programmes submitted via StudiLöwe and applications submitted via hochschulstart.de (DoSV).
In the list of bachelor degree courses, you can see which degree programmes are admission-restricted (NC: yes). Furthermore, you can see which degree programmes start in the winter semester and through which application portal you have to submit the online application for your chosen degree programme.

During this lecture Sandra Bischoff, head of the BaföG office, will explain important aspects of financing your studies with the help of BaföG. You are not entitled to or do not want to apply for a student grant from the state (BaföG)? Then financing your studies with a scholarship might be an alternative. During this lecture, Ms Grübler from the office Deutschlandstipendium will introduce the scholarship Deutschlandstipendium. Our talent scouts will inform you about some other scholarships and offer the opportunity to seek advice:

Beginning of the preparatory Mathematics courses
During the preparatory mathematics course, you can brush up and enhance your mathematical skills, so it will be easier for you to keep up in the chosen degree programme. The short intensive courses will start before the lecture period and will begin at different dates and times, depending on the degree course. The first short course will start on 11 September.

Important and useful information for a new stage of life
You have successfully passed your university entrance examinations and now, perhaps with a first flat on your own or a room in a shared apartment, you struggle with periods of notice or electricity bills that are too high. In order to ensure that everything goes smoothly, this lecture by the Verbraucherzentrale NRW will inform you about inexpensive on-site advice and will give you tips about saving money.

Beginning of the winter semester
Even though Welcome Week and lectures do not start until a few days after, on 01 October the winter semester starts officially. For students this implies the following.
- You are officially considered a student (if you are already enrolled and have received your certificate of enrolment),
- You can use your semester ticket,
- Your parents can receive child benefit for you (again),
- The period for which you can receive your student grant (BAföG) commences. (However, you can apply for your student grant already before you start studying.)
- You are insured under a health insurance scheme as a student.

The School of Education offers an introductory week from 02 until 06 October 2023, i.e. before the official Welcome Week. In this context, the School of Education invites all first-year students to central and interdisciplinary introductory courses if they are enrolled in the following degree programmes.
